GOAL isn't just getting to know the primary sector, all sorts of final products, meetings and agreements. GOAL is people, teachers and students, who cooperate regardless of the great distances, different traditions and customs.
The teachers have come to know one another through the planning stages and the kick-off activities of the project. Now it's the students' turn. Initial contacts are, due to the distances, made (with the help of the mentors) via the internet, which is of course much faster than ordinary mail. An excellent example, that we want to replicate with other students, is that of Ana from Dramlje and Lorena from Olivenza. What follows is Ana's view of their friendship.
My friend from Olivenza
Not so long ago, I was in contact with a student from Spain. His name was Daniel but we only wrote one E-mail to each other and then lost contact. My English teacher arranged a new pen-friend for me, she is also from Spain (Olivenza) and her name is Lorena Pastrana Diaz. We are still in contact, we chat every single day on Facebook. At first, we were using E-mail and then Facebook, because it’s easier that way. We mostly talk about our countries, friends and interests and we also complain about school to each other. We make plans for the future, like how we are going to meet, see each other and talk in person. She will maybe come to Slovenia in March and that would be great, beacuse we could actually make our little ”plans” happen. She speaks English very well and we have no problems with communication. We started to make short videos about everything around us, so that she could see how it is here and vice versa. They are very interesting and you have lots of fun making them. We also take pictures and send them to each other (selfies, pets, rooms in our houses…). She is one of my best friends, even if I’ve never seen her before or talked to her in person… yet. She is funny, charismatic and interesting. She tells me a lot about her school and country and I don’t mind that, I like to hear new facts and information. I can’t wait for the time when she comes to Slovenia, our friendship is growing every single day and I think we will become great friends if she comes.
